Our Story

“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6 ESV)

Dr. Martin Luther: "Nothing at all will help us but taking the Word of God seriously and preserving it diligently for ourselves and our posterity, especially through the maintenance of good schools and education of youth."

Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran School (IELS) is a vital part of the mission of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church (IELC) and the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) and is one of over 1,800 LCMS schools, serving more than 200,000 students nationwide. We have a comprehensive program of quality education based on a classical approach, including the proclamation of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Our school is a place where God's Word and the Christian faith are related to all subjects to help each child become a mature Christian adult.

IELC was established in 1911 and has a rich history of ministry in the Alliance, NE community. In 2001, the church first opened the Little Angels Preschool. In 2014, the congregation started an elementary school to serve the needs of the community.
